Recently, a very nice story developed during one of our cat-sitting sessions, when one of our sitters was looking after a kitten.
One of the main characters in the story is Nyafi the 10-week-old kitten, who one morning got involved in an act that is still unknown, which resulted in him breaking his tiny little leg.
Injuries are a common occurrence in cats, especially those with a more active lifestyle.
They can often act almost recklessly and can climb and jump into places so impossible that they are a joy to watch.
However, it is less happy when a kitten emerges from an adventure injured.

The limping pet was taken to a clinic in Budapest, where it was examined and X-rayed, and the fracture was not visible, despite the cat showing signs of severe pain.
To investigate the case further, an emergency referral was made to an orthopaedic specialist. The orthopaedic doctor diagnosed a fracture of the tibia and applied a bandage to the kitten’s leg.
However, we know that cats are very creative animals, and this proved to be true for this kitten, as it only took a day and a half to get the bandage off.

Your pet will be in the best of hands, our sitters are trained by a vet and have first aid and nursing skills.
Plus, we offer 0-24 veterinary advice to our sitters during supervision if they have any questions.

The owner then consulted the surgery about the schedule, and the complicating factor was that the owners had already booked a holiday abroad for two days later, which could not be cancelled at that time.
That’s when PetWiseCare’s kitten-sitting service came into the picture, and one of the kitten-sitters in SOS was able to take on the unconventional job of kitten-sitting.
After Nyafi underwent his surgery, our cat sitter went to pick him up and did the subsequent patient care.
Nyafi was successfully given her morning and evening medication and was supervised 24 hours a day, just to keep her from getting bored.
The PetWiseCare kitten sitter monitored his every move, ready to jump in if any post-operative complications arose.

After surgery, it is important to pay close attention to the animals, as they are more vulnerable, can injure the wound and develop infections, etc.
It is therefore important to keep the wound clean, re-bandage if necessary according to the doctor’s instructions, disinfect, monitor the animal’s well-being, behaviour and basic physiological parameters (respiration rate, pulse rate, body temperature).
A post-operative gown or collar may be used to protect the wound.

If you see that a particular wound is starting to show signs of inflammation, stitches are coming out, the wound is opening , take the animal to the vet! A visit to the doctor is also warranted if the animal is worse, lethargic, or refuses to move, eat or drink.

Fortunately, the cat was fine after the operation, the kitten sitter took care of her until the owner came home.
